2006 SEASON

Overall, we finished the SEMSEC Saloon & Sports Championship 29th of 76, 12th of 20 in category E, (Intermediate Saloons Championship) & 3rd of 7, in Class 13, (Intermediate Saloons over 1400cc and up to 1800cc). Not a bad season, seeing as we only raced at 3 meetings, building the car for the first 5 & then rebuilding the car for the other two!

At the BARC SEC Southern Sports / Saloons meeting at Brands Hatch on the 11th November, we finished both races 20th of 27, but finished 3rd in our class in both races, ending our 1st season, with a trophy!

2007 SEASON

The final 2008 SEMSEC Saloon & Sports Championship positions are as follows: We competed & scored points in 6 races out of 11 & finished 28th of 65 in the overall championship, 16th of 32 in Category A & 7th of 12 in Class 2

At the BARC Festival of Motorsport on the 8th September at Lydden Hill, we finished 1st in class & won our second trophy!!

Thanks to everyone for their help during this season.

2008 SEASON

We tested the car at Lydden on 26th April, & after a couple of cooling problems, we set the car up perfectly.

On 28th June, at the BARC meeting at Lydden, we did four laps to shake down the car  in the qualifying session, which meant we started last on the grid for the first race. At the rolling start, we made up a couple of places, passing an Si Fiesta, Mini & a couple of other cars, which meant we came 1st in class & started four places further up the grid. Unfortunately, a problem with the carburettors (a 35p part!!), prevented the car from finishing the second race. Still, a great day and another first place & trophy.

At the SEMSEC meeting on 12th July, We qualified 4th in class, but suffered with a broken brake calliper. This meant we only did 5 laps of qualifying. After some pretty nimble work by Gareth, James & Jason Nind of the 750MC Stock Hatch  series, we got the car ready & managed to finish 3rd in class in both races. Thanks again to Gareth, James & Jason for all their hard work.

On the 6th September, we qualified 12th overall & 2nd in class on a very wet Lydden race track with old wet race tyres & a time of 63 secs. In race one, still on the old tyres, we finished 11th overall & 2nd in class on a partially wet track, with a fastest lap of 57 seconds. Race two was a full wet race & gave us another 2nd in class, but with the loan of Jason Nind’s Yokohama 539’s, we managed a 61 second fastest lap (equating to a 51 second dry lap). All in all, a good day, with the fastest wet lap we have ever done. Thanks again to Gareth & Jason. Thanks as well to Del, Lee, Tony Sue & Danny for support.

The race day on the 27th September at Lydden was a bit of a non-starter. We did one lap of free practice with the brakes were binding on. Gareth & Will freed them off in time for qualifying & we managed 3 laps, enough to qualify for the first race. In race one, we started in last place, but by the third corner, we had overtaken a Mk3 1.8i Fiesta, a Mk 5 Zetec Fiesta, a Mazda MX5 & a Cosworth Mini. Unfortunately, by lap four, the brakes were binging on again (caused by a faulty master cylinder) & we had to retire from this race & did not start race two. Thanks to Gareth, Will & Rich for all their efforts.

We were invited to the Prodrive test track at Warwick on Wednesday 1st October by SEAT SPORT UK, for an afternoon testing the SEAT LEON FR Diesel Turbo. We managed fastest lap (out of 90 other drivers over three days) on the short race track, only 1.1 seconds behind the Pro Driver (Plato). The day also included skid / ice Pan , fast cornering (which, on both exercises, Vanessa dominated the car & instructor!) & GPS positional instruction. All in all, a fun & very successful test day. Thanks to SEAT SPORT, Scott Dennis, Prodrive & Paul, our instructor.

At the final SEMSEC race day of this season at Lydden Hill, we tried a new type of engine in the car & it proved to have more power than the existing one. Unfortunately, an oil seal blew & we failed to complete our race.  Back to our tried & tested engine for the next race at Brands Hatch on the 9th November.
